Welcome to the new PhillyEmergent website. We’re in the mist of relaunching our group and discussion. We’ve not met for the last year and a half for various reasons, but we’re hoping to begin meeting again soon.
But, before we do, we need your help…
We have a few questions as we relaunch our regular gatherings again:
Okay, that should be too hard. Leave your answers in the comments of this blog post…
We’re looking forward to gathering again soon…
Todd Hiestand & Scott Jones (cohort leaders)
The Philadelphia Emergent Cohort is a network of christians who are passionate about seeing the kingdom of God be more present in our city. We gather regularly in different locations throughout the city to discuss issues related to theology and the Church. To find out more about our meeting times and locations go here.

1. Once a month would be great
2. I think a relaxed kind of get together with the occasional more formal discussion with guest seems like a good idea. I also think it would be great if our meetings included prayer and worship of some kind.
3. I think meeting in one consistent location is best.
4. Personally I’m interested in this group because I would like to be involved in fellowship with others who have a concern for the Emerging Church conversation. I would value the opportunity to learn from the experience of others.

1. I would love to meet alot, but will most likely only be able to swing once a month.
2. A mixture of both would be good. Having guests to challenge us in good ways is always helpful. Plus, guests who specialize in certain topics can help us to bring focus and keep us moving forward. Informal community building is also important.
3. Coming from a northern suburb (Allentown), a rotation would be cool, but I can understand if one consistent location serves the group better.
4. I am interested in participating in a safe and challenging Emerging conversation where we can hear again the Gospel, and understand how we can embody that Gospel (inbreaking Kingdom) in our current cultural and historical context.

Hey, also if any one is interested in meeting weekly, there is a crew of us that meet on Thursday nights in West Philly. We eat dinner together and are exploring the nature and character of God. Focusing on God as a creator, and how we can reengage in bringing love and beauty to the community around us. Everyone is welcome. We post weekly updates on our blog at, discussionsandart.blogspot.com, if anyone is interested.
